I understand that every student wants to get very cheap textbooks to avoid the pain of forking over your life savings. During my time in college I found out some pretty cool tricks for getting very cheap textbooks.The first trick is when you go to get your textbooks for the next semester makes sure you check the student swap board. This can be a very useful place for getting cheap textbooks. Some students are leaving college and probably the area forever. These students will want to get rid of their textbooks asap. This is where you come in and sweep up these textbooks like they are bars of gold. You can save over 90% using this method alone.
Another reason is a student might be dropping out of school for various reasons, and you will be their savior if you give them a small amount of money for their textbooks. Keep in mind that you might not even take that class but you know that you can sell it for a lot more when the textbook rush is on. This will off set some of your costs when getting very cheap textbooks.
Getting very cheap textbooks is like fishing. If you have to buy a brand new edition, you are probably stuck purchasing at the full price because no used textbooks are available. You are stuck in a bad place here, but you can always sell it back at the end of the semester for a couple dollars less than the campus book store.
The last method I will mention here is trading. Not trading online because you will never know if you are getting the book you need.
